Family photograph of William Wing (1810-1882). Wing served as lay church warden and vestry clerk for the Steeple Aston Church. At his death, the church rector gave this epitaph: “He lived and died in Steeple Aston. A lover of his native village. A constant worshipper in its church. A leader in all its public business. The diligent compiler of its annals. And a ready helper for all around him.” It was his daughter Hannah who married Catherine's great-grandfather Abraham Spencer.
