1936-01-24 Garfield Elementary School, Yakima. Angie's first grade report card. "I started school in Fruitland. It was a two room school with eight grades. I didn't do well because I was near-sighted and needed glasses. They were purchased in Spokane. The first day I had them I went to school. When recess came, I walked straight onto the porch, fell down the steps and broke my glasses. We had to make another trip to Spokane." Angie repeated first grade in Yakima with better success. Angie would stay with her Uncle Harold and Aunt Roxie who were living at 112 17th ST N. She walked four blocks to the old Garfield School at 825 Mt Vernon Avenue.
