His name appears on the muster roll for a landing craft infantry vessel, LCI(L)-635 on 6 Aug 1945 as a staff sargeant. This would place him at Balipapan after the Australian landings on the island the preceeding month. The Battle of Balikpapa was the final stage of the Borneo campaaign in 1945.
